"Masada"
Masada is Rose and Elijah's 2nd born male. Rose had a very difficult delivery. He came out head first and she pushed for 45 minutes to get him delivered. He was
unable to open the right side of his mouth at birth. We took him to our vet. Since he could not nurse, he recommended we see if he could nurse from a bottle. Len
shopped for nipples until he found the one Masada liked best. He thrived for 4 weeks then developing pneumonia. We rushed him to the Emergency Vet clinic.
There he was treated and we received a referral to Dr. Moss. He is a wonderful veterinary surgeon. After surgery, Dr. Moss informed us that he corrected the fusion
of the TMJ joint to the upper and lower jaw bones. Masada is expected to make a full recovery. He is already playing and enjoying getting to open his mouth, bite,
lick and eat like a normal mastiff puppy! We are very thankful for each of you who prayed and sent well wishes for his speedy recovery. We will keep you updated
through this page about his growth and progress. We dedicate this page to Masada and to all the other Special animals that are worth saving!

Just born!
"I am now 8 days old. Two pictures above my bottle
is bigger than me. Now I'm bigger than my bottle. "
My tongue now looks normal
and my gums do not show.
My mouth is a little crooked,
but Jesus loves me so!
He gives me all his blessings.
And watches over me.
My mommy 's very thankful to
have me here today,
To God be all the glory for
working things out His way!
I now weigh 2 pounds!
Three weeks and 3 days old. Walking around
and eating 60cc bottle formula every 3 hours!
4 Days old!
For all of those who do not believe that a life is worth saving, you should meet
Masada! He was named after the City of Masada in Israel. 900 gave their lives to
avoid being taken back in to slavery. Today in Israel, all military personal are sworn
in at Masada. The statement at the entrance to the city reads: "Masada will never
fall again!" Therefore it was chosen that his name be Masada. We prayed to God
that he would not fall and He kept his promises! This earth was created by God and
He owns everything in it. We are merely care takers of His garden. Let Masada be
a example to those who do not believe in helping puppies or others who are born
different and need a little extra start in life. God takes us faults and all and creates
Masterpieces with our lives. Won't you let Him create a master piece in you?
After Surgery:
I now weigh 11 pounds and can hold
my own in a wrestling match with sis!
I got to spend Christmas at Grandma's house
and get lots of hugs from Lanna!
I can not imagine a day without
Masada in it. God has richly
blessed our home with the special
love this beautiful Mastiff has
brought into our lives. We are
richer for it! To anyone who
questions saving a animal born
with a defect, don't hesitate. I
realize that there are many that
are not fixable. What is even
sadder is that many are. Yet
people will cast them aside or
euthanize them. I am so thankful
that we chose life! That's what
God did for us and the bond we
now share is something I can't
describe. It's been the most
awesome experience. He's one
of us and here he will always be!
We hope you will stay tuned into
our website for future updates.
Posing with Alley!
A handsome young mastiff!
Our favorite place to hang out!
Update: Masada had to undergo a 2nd surgery. Puppies are healing machines and his body thinks it is suppose
to be healing a joint that doesn't exist. So it fused back together again. Unfortunately this surgery brought
complications of reaction to anesthesia, the good side of his jaw broke during the repair, and aspiration
pneumonia. Masada was asleep through it all. The complications brought on more tests performed by their
specialists and we are thankful to say that Masada is a healthy mastiff with no other abnormalities or flaws!
He has a sound, perfect heart and God has richly blessed us again! He suffered a weight loss while in the
hospital on IV's, but has quickly rebounded and on the way to weighing his normal weight for his age!
He's eating normal and growing like a weed! Or should I say a MASTIFF! We want to take this time to thank
God for watching over Masada and placing us in the Wonderful hands of Veterinary Referral Surgeons. Dr. Moss
an his staff are the best in the world! Thanks guys!
